June is Pride Month in the City! While there won’t be a parade this year, San Francisco Pride is hosting a series of socially distanced in-person events for the 51st annual celebration. After a full year of physical distancing and other restrictions, the Bay Area’s LGBTQ+ communities will once again be able to gather in limited, in-person events while strictly adhering to current safety protocols to celebrate #SFPride51 throughout the month of June 2021.
The theme for this year is “All in This Together,” and SF Pride will be the best version of what is possible at this time, prioritizing public health while providing numerous opportunities for LGBTQ+ people and allies to experience visibility, solidarity, and joy.
Although there is no parade, there will still be Grand Marshals and SF Pride recently announced that co-founders of the African American Art & Culture Complex (AAACC) Melonie Green and Melorra Green were named SF Pride 2021 Community Grand Marshals jointly for the individual component, while voters chose the Oakland LGBTQ Cultural Center as the organizational honoree. The Grand Marshals and Honorees represent a mix of individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender community. With the help of community input, SF Pride selects these groups and individuals in order to honor the work they have put into furthering the causes of LGBTQ+ people.

What is Pride 365? To stay connected, to shine a light on outstanding LGBTQ+ individuals, and give an insider look at what it takes to produce San Francisco Pride, they have launched a new initiative called SF Pride 365.
It’s several things at once: the revival of a print magazine Inside Pride as a series of video conversations, interviews with notable people called the Community Partner Spotlight, and a podcast called The Queerness.
Mayor London Breed gave a statement saying, "Pride is one of my favorite times of year, and I am so excited that we’ll have the opportunity to come together and safely celebrate our LGBTQ community this June." She added, "Despite the challenges that remain ahead, we will keep finding creative ways to keep our San Francisco spirit alive and move forward safely, together."
